Then take a tour through the kids market to see what the incredibly talented entrepreneurs have made!

2023 Harvest Hills Annual Plant Exchange!
When: Saturday, June 10, 2023. Bring your plants at 1:30pm, the Swap begins at 1:45pm!
Where: Harvest Hills Hub – 178 Harvest Glen Way NE, Calgary, AB T3K 4J4
How: Dig up and bring any outdoor plants or houseplants you would like to share with a neighbour. Receive a ticket for every plant brought. When your ticket number is drawn, select any plant to take home with you!! It’s as easy as that!
*To help with identification, please try to fill out a plant tag (below) for each plant you bring! We will have a gardening enthusiast onsite to help with plant identification, if needed*
**All remaining plants will be free to public following the plant exchange! Come by at 2:15pm to take home a free plant…or three!**
This plant exchange is 100% free and signage and beverages have been provided by the NHCA. Special thanks to Joanne Davenport for volunteering her time to identify plants and provide gardening knowledge.

2023 Harvest Hills Parade of Garage Sales!
When: Saturday, May 27, 2023 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

This years event is being generously sponsored by Sam Fard and Errol Biebrick from Calgary Home Collective – RE/MAX Real Estate Mountain View. Not only will they be providing goodie bags to every house that registers to host a sale, but they will also be on-site at the HHHub on the day of the sale, so come see them for all your real estate questions!

We want to help bring your local business to the Northern Hills communities and beyond!
Whether you make your own clothing, décor, or accessories, or provide a service-based business such as lawn care, cleaning, or any trade service, we want YOU at our Makers Market! We’ll bring the customers to you and you keep 100% of the profits!
Entrepreneurs of all ages are welcome, but make sure to get parental approval if you are under 18. Prepared food-based businesses must adhere to City of Calgary licensing bylaws.
Pre-registration is required and will open by mid-July. We will also have openings for Featured Vendors in our Business Showcase advertising leading up to the event. This feature is no cost and is open to all vendors regardless of business type or age. We will be requesting photos and a small write up from these vendors for our Facebook page. Stay tuned for more details!
With arts and crafts, raffle prizes and more this evening promises to be fun for the whole family, and a great opportunity to support local businesses. We can’t wait to see you all there!

Hula Hoop Program
Hula hooping is a fantastic mood booster and physical wellness activity. It’s a great way to have fun while social distancing in the sun! The past few months have had its challenges for all of us, and my mission is to bring back joy through love of the hoop. See you at the Hub. – Daniella (Instructor)
Dates: Tuesdays from July 6 to August 17 and September 7 (Total of 8 lessons)
Time: Tuesday evenings – 7pm – 8pm

- Hoops will be provided – one per participant, you are welcome to bring your own as well.
- All participants must keep original hoop. Must spray hoop with disinfectant and wipe down before leaving on ground to dry.
- Health Screening Questionnaire needs to be submitted at least 1-hour prior arriving to HHHub.
- Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in
- If you want to bring a child (8 yrs or older) with you, you must register the child as a family member.

The Harvest Hills Community Hub Project (June 24, 2020)
The Harvest Hills Community Hub Project is about so much more than replacing an outdated City of Calgary playground with new, all ages play equipment. It is about facilitating connections between neighbours to foster a more vibrant, enriched community! It is a grassroots initiative to foster a vibrant and active community hub in Harvest Hills. Our dedicated committee has fundraised extensively to build a new all-ages playground, add more benches and picnic tables, and plant a number of new trees, shrubs, and flowers. Construction was completed in Summer 2019 and the outdoor play hub is now open.
We were able to offer a few exciting programs at our wonderful space – Harvest Hills Hub during the summer of 2020.
- Outdoor Yoga Program
Yoga at the Hub is a gentle flow yoga teaching us how to connect with the mind and body using the breath to help guide us through each pose. These classes will allow you to listen to your body, connect with the breath, and stay humble afterwards. I look forward to seeing you all on your mats and in the outdoors. - Mad Science Workshops
The Harvest Hills HHHub is thrilled to partner with Mad Science of South Alberta to bring FREE science workshops to the HHHub this summer!
These 1 hour workshops will run every Thursday from 6-7pm (weather permitting) from July 2 – August 20, 2020. They will cover a variety of nature themed subjects, and are broken into two age groups to ensure the most fun for all involved!

The features of new wonderful community park space, specifically include:
A New Playground
The goal for the innovative new play area is to broaden the demographic appeal and give the older children and youth somewhere to recreate. Currently Harvest Hills’ youth find the playground equipment unchallenging, and the team want to offer them an area abounding with more imagination and play opportunities at a playground complemented by nature.
Naturalized Pod Areas
An important new addition to the space is the “Alberta Discovery Trail”. The trail is a crushed limestone path that weaves itself through four naturalized pod areas. Each of the four pod areas will include a subset of native-to-Alberta, drought-tolerant trees, shrubs, and smaller plantings to provide a robust home for our varied local wildlife. The inclusion of these natural planted areas, designed to incorporate the best practices of water management and localized species of plants, would serve as an educational example to encourage similar projects in the surrounding communities.
Three new to the space picnic tables will facilitate family picnics, community gatherings, and community-led groups and classes. The team has engaged with the local high school, Notre Dame High School, wherein students in the carpentry and industrial arts classes will be designing and constructing custom nature-themed benches for the park space. This is an exciting way to include older youth in Harvest Hills and give them a sense of ownership. They also hope to incorporate a free library concept and bulletin board for the space.
Community Involvement
This is a collaborative initiative with a strong commitment from the local community. The group of volunteers working towards the construction of this community hub are all very passionate about getting other local residents involved. The team is fundraising locally, holding local information sessions, and planning for a build of the hub. Their collaborations with both Notre Dame High School and local businesses have been very positive and have helped create new relationships in the area. Continued benefits to the community will include a rejuvenated sense of community pride, creation of a welcoming community space, and offering an urban sanctuary that will attract residents from surrounding communities to visit and enjoy. By helping neighbours meet and connect at this site, in the long term the community will become inherently friendlier, and safer as neighbours watch out for neighbours. We are hoping this project will act as a catalyst and inspire other local groups to create committees aimed at enriching and improving our communities’ resources and helping to green our city and give our city’s wildlife a home.
Future Impact
It is not a simple playground replacement, but the construction of a robust and dynamic Community Hub. Their dedicated committee is invested into the project over the long term of turning this single use traditional lot into a genuine community asset for local groups. Group gatherings such as community parties, garage sales, play dates, fitness classes, art classes, etc will be encouraged and advertised through Facebook and our community newsletter. They will actively encourage neighbours to get involved in hosting public events and help facilitate connections and relationships.
