Youth Council – Steve Khanna

My name is Steve Khanna and I study in Notre Dame High School in grade 11. I’m 16 years old and my birthday is on the 2nd of October. I really like to play soccer and draw. I love to share my skills with others and be of as much help as possible. I am originally from India and I came to Canada about 4 years ago. I really like the people here because they are really nice and helpful. I really hate being alone so I have a tendency to make friends really quickly. When I grow up, I want to become a mechanical engineer and earn lots of money so that I could donate a share of it and also because I wish to retire when I’m 40 and travel the world with my friends and family.

I originally joined the NHCA youth council only because I needed to do a long term project for IB-International Baccalaureate- but, 2 weeks into the meetings my definition of community totally changed. Now I’m not here only for my IB project but I’m here so I can help the community grow and evolve. If youth like us don’t take action, who will? One of the things that I love about the NHCA group is the atmosphere. Everybody in the committee is very welcoming and don’t let anyone feel like strangers. One of the most important things that I have learned from this is the importance of organization. If nothing is organized, nothing is going to get done.
