The overall success of any NHCA event or program depends upon our volunteers. We cannot do these programs without your help, unfortunately it takes a whole lot of help!

    This year, when registering in Children’s Outdoor Soccer, the $50 volunteer fee will be automatically added to the cost of registering in this program.  All families will be expected to volunteer in ANY NHCA program or event for a minimum of 7 hours per family. A full refund of this $50 fee will be given to those who fulfill their volunteer commitment.

    There are many volunteer positions and your contribution can be directly related to your child’s soccer team, the soccer program or other NHCA events throughout the year. To volunteer for a non-sports related event, please contact: volunteer@northernhills.ab.ca

     

    Volunteer opportunities listed in the Soccer Manager registration program are itemized below:

    Age Group Coordinator – Liaison between the parents,coaches and the soccer coordinator. Assist with finding parent coaches/assistant coaches for those teams without.

    AS REQUIRED – You will be contacted during the course of the year to assist with ANY NHCA event or project requiring volunteer assistance.

    Board Member – Attend monthly board meetings and contribute to the overall functioning of the NHCA.

    Coach/Co-CoachU4 – Assume coaching or co-coaching responsibilities for a team. To include age related drills and attending coaches orientation. Might include email/phone notification to the team to introduce yourself, game cancellations and photo night if no Team Manager.

    Coach/Co-CoachU6 – Assume coaching or co-coaching responsibilities for a team. To include age related drills and attending coaches orientation. Might include email/phone notification to the team to introduce yourself, game cancellations and photo night if no Team Manager.

    Coach/Co-CoachU8 – Assume coaching or co-coaching responsibilities for a team. To include age related drills and attending coaches orientation. Might include email/phone notification to the team to introduce yourself, game cancellations and photo night if no Team Manager.

    Coach/Co-CoachU10 – Assume coaching or co-coaching responsibilities for a team. To include age related drills and attending coaches orientation. Might include email/phone notification to the team to introduce yourself, game cancellations and photo night if no Team Manager.

    Coach/Co-CoachU12 – Assume coaching or co-coaching responsibilities for a team. To include age related drills and attending coaches orientation. Might include email/phone notification to the team to introduce yourself, game cancellations and photo night if no Team Manager.

    Equipment/Uniform Coordinators – This Coordinator is responsible for organizing the teams of Equipment/Uniform Helpers that are to assemble the equipment bags and hand out the uniforms and equipment bags. This takes place at the Storage Locker in Cardel Place.

    Equipment/Uniform Helpers – Working with the Equipment/Uniform Coordinator, you will help out with the creation of equipment bags, along with handing them and the uniforms out to the coaches. Also included will be the post-season task of counting and sorting of returned equipment.

    Field/Line Painters – Responsible for lining & painting outdoor fields. There will be 2 groups, those who paint the fields initially and those who will take home a line painter to touch-up the fields in May and again in June.

    Game Schedulers – Create the games schedules for the soccer teams. These schedules will be created on an excel spreadsheet and posted on the NHCA website in addition to being emailed to the coaches.

    Photo Coordinator – Work with photographer to schedule teams for photos, and organise the photo helpers to volunteer on photo days.

    Photo Helper – To assist the photography company on photo day.

    Referee – Referee games in U10 & U12 age groups.

    Referee Coordinator – Responsible for creating a referee schedule for the U10 and U12 divisions. The Soccer Coordinator will provide a list of referees with which to build the schedule.

    Team Formation Coordinators – Create the teams for each age group. This will be done using the Soccer Manager software, which will supply a listing of children in each age group as well as the coaching, assistant coach and team manager volunteers.

    Team Inputters – Using the team lists generated by the Team Formation Coordintors, input the teams with their coaching staff into the Soccer Manager software.

    Team Managers – Assists the coach with team organization: notify parents of game cancellations and photo night. Ensures that volunteer responsibilities on the team are being carried out: snack night (for the appropriate age groups) and equipment setup.

    Welcome Group – This group will be at the fields during the first 2 weeks to welcome & answer questions.
