ALL SPORTS – REGISTRATION FAQs:

How do I register?

For outdoor soccer and Adult slo-pitch: REGISTRATION STARTS February 1st and continues for the whole month. Visit the web page relating to the sport you would like to register for after the 1st February, then find the link for online registration (usually “REGISTER NOW” at the top of the page). This will take you to the online registration system for that sport. If you are unable to register online, please visit the relevant sport’s page for other options.

I want to pay with my debit card/cheque/cash, so can I register in person?

Yes.  We will be holding in-person registration on the following dates in February at the NHCA Office in the Genstar Wing of Cardel Place.

For payment by credit card, please register online only.

Times for in-person registration:

IN-PERSON REGISTRATION HOURS (ONLY) – FEBRUARY 2016:

  • Tuesdays:  10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Thursdays: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Saturdays: 12:00 noon – 3:00 pm

I live just outside of the NHCA area, but I (or my son/my daughter/other family member) want(s) to play with friends in your league. Do I/they have to be a resident of the Northern Hills?

No, you don’t have to live in “the Hills” to play here. You will need to purchase an Associate membership to the NHCA for those living outside of “The Hills” first before registering, which is the same price as an NHCA Family membership ($30).

WOMEN’S SOCCER:

I am 25. Can I play in the Women’s Over 30 league?

We have a program for women aged 20-30. Information is available on the Women’s Over 20 Outdoor Soccer page . If you are younger than 30, but want to play with a team of older friends, you will need to ask in writing by email to the Sports Director.

How do I register?

Registration for the Women’s Outdoor Soccer starts on February 1st and lasts for the whole month. Check out the relevant program page for links to online registration (see the Sports drop-down menu at the top right of the page on the menu bar). PLEASE ensure you have a membership valid until the end of the current year BEFORE registering to qualify for the member pricing.

For WOMEN’s INDOOR soccer, you will need to have a membership valid until the end of the year the soccer season finishes in.

Why do I need to buy two years of membership?

This only applies for the Women’s 30+ Indoor Soccer league. As it runs during the winter, it runs over two membership years because the NHCA membership runs from 1st January-31st December each year.

ADULT SLO-PITCH:

How do I register?

You can register online in February by clicking on the REGISTER NOW link at the top of the Adult Slo-pitch page. This link will take you to the online registration software, where you can also purchase a membership at the same time. Payments online can be made by VISA or MasterCard.

If you wish to pay by cash, cheque or debit card, you can do so in the NHCA Office during in-person registration:

IN-PERSON REGISTRATION HOURS (ONLY) – FEBRUARY 2016:

  • Tuesdays:  10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Thursdays: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Saturdays: 12:00 noon – 3:00 pm

Want to register a whole team or be on a particular team?

Even though there is no “team” registration, you can still register 12+ individuals and specify you want to be on the same team to achieve a team registration.

When Registering: Please enter any special notes in the “Medical Conditions” section, such as: “I will pitch”, “I want to play on the same team as John Doe”, “I want to play on the same team as last year, team name”, etc.

OTHER SPORTS:

I can only see soccer and slo-pitch on the website. What other sports do you play?

We do not currently run any other sports programs at this time.  However, if you have any ideas or would like to get involved in setting up another sports program, please contact sports@northernhills.ab.ca.

Now that you have the outdoor rinks are you going to set up a hockey league?

The current community outdoor rinks are not designed for playing hockey and are for recreational skating and shinny only as they are not boarded. If you would like to join the committee to help build a boarded rink, then please contact community@northernhills.ab.ca. Please also contact community@northernhills.ab.ca if you would like to become part of our team who look after the community rinks.

If you would like to play hockey, please visit http://www.calgaryarea.com/calgary_hockey.htm to find a local club to meet your needs and skill level.
