The Green Line is Calgary’s next light rail transit (LRT) line, and the highest public transit priority for The City. This new line will add 40 kilometres to the existing 59 kilometre LRT system. End-to-end, the line will connect the Northern Hills communities and Seton to downtown, and is estimated to serve 41 million passengers annually.

The Green Line is more than just a transit project; it will connect people and places, integrate with new and mature neighbourhoods, and help build liveable, vibrant and sustainable communities.

Green Line Station Workshop

The Green Line project team needs your input!

The Green Line project team is working with communities to understand how you move,
live, work and play in the areas near future Green Line stations.

The project team is still accepting RSVPs for the North Pointe and 96th Ave workshop where you can provide input on the stations and the area surrounding it.

North Pointe and 96 Ave Stations

Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 6-9pm
Harvest Hills Alliance Church, 10099 Harvest Hills Blvd NW

Workshops are hands on sessions with the design team to provide feedback and help inform future design decisions. Please note workshops are limited to 100 participants and span a 3 hour period to ensure a productive session. Participants and the project team will work through topics such as:

  • How will the station be accessed by foot, bicycle, feeder transit routes, or vehicles?
  • Where are the missing pedestrian, cyclist, and feeder bus links?
  • Where will you travel to?
  • How will the station be integrated into the community?

Registration is required to participate in these sessions. Visit www.calgary.ca/greenline for more details and to sign up.

Get Involved in the Charrette!

It’s time to talk about Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in the north! Last year, the City hosted three workshops called “charrettes” with communities in southeast Calgary to plan TOD on the south leg of the line. They are now beginning to host this process for the north section of the Green Line, and hope you’ll join in the discussion.

Transit Oriented Development for the north will be located around the Green Line stations at 64 Avenue N, 96 Avenue N and 9 Avenue N/16 Avenue N/ 28 Avenue N.

What is a Charrette?

A charrette is a multiple-day, collaborative workshop led by a consultant team that brings together citizens, developers and policymakers to create a feasible and supported community plan based on four feedback loops: Issues, ideas, concepts, and solutions.

Watch this video to learn more about the Green Line Charrette process. More details about all upcoming Green Line events can be found at: www.calgary.ca/greenline

96th Avenue N Charrette

The Charrette for our 96th Ave station area will now likely take place in the fall. There are four opportunities for the public to take part in the charrette. Sign up for the mailing list at at www.calgary.ca/greenline to be first to hear about opportunities to take part in upcoming events.
