The City is now beginning its public consultations for the northern portion of the proposed Green Line LRT.

Although here in the Northern Hills we already know where the line will run (up Centre Street/Harvest Hills Blvd), the station location for Harvest Hills/96 Ave N/Aurora, and station designs are not set in stone. Station locations for the rest of the Green Line North, and how they interact with cross-town routes in the communities to the south of us,  are also up for discussion.

The NHCA supports the building of the Green Line, as it will provide much-needed capacity on an already over-burdened route for our residents. Transportation infrastructure (better/more) was the number one priority for residents back in the 2013 Creating Space project consultations. However, we also want to ensure that this project does not *just* bring a train to our doorsteps. We want to ensure it is “built right” and brings other benefits to our communities. As a community association, we encourage all of our residents to attend at least one of the sessions to let your opinions, hopes and fears be voiced to the City’s Green Line team. The session that focuses on the Green Line in our area is scheduled for February 3rd, at St. Henry School in Huntington Hills (see #2, in bold, below).
