UNAUTHORIZED SOLICITING by Wendy Cavanagh, President

It has recently been brought to the attention of the Northern Hills Community Association (NHCA) that residents in our communities have been approached by someone posing as a representative of either the Panorama Residents Association or the NHCA. Thanks to those of you who contacted us. We have contacted our Community Liaison Officer with the City of Calgary Police and his advice to residents is to report any suspicious person, who is falsely representing the Community Associations in our area, to the Calgary Police Non-Emergency number 403-266-1234. You may also e-mail cps@calgarypolice.ca. If residents are approached by these person/persons they are to ask for Community Association ID and not give any personal information. The NHCA would like to assure residents that if we were to conduct a membership drive, you would see it advertised in the Northern Edge News, our website and volunteers would be carrying NHCA identification.

Note: The recent door to door soliciting was conducted by persons hired by a local business to acquire residents’ information to be used for a mailing list of an e-mail advertising newsletter. The Northern Hills Community Association has spoken with the person responsible and requested that he send an e-mail to all those residents who have recently given their contact information. This e-mail was to include the clarification that he is in no way affiliated with any community association and provide recipients with the option for their information to be removed from his list.

Community Garden News

If you like to garden, why not join the Northern Hills Community Garden Group? Many users of community gardens see the following benefits:

A number of interested community members have gotten together with the objective of establishing community gardens in Northern Hills. Our initial planning meeting took place on March 11th where we discussed our first community garden site to be located in Harvest Hills, south of the lake.

The objective is to begin with Harvest Hills in 2010 and then move on to another NHCA community next year. We have a number of action items that need to be addressed in order to plant this season and are looking for interested volunteers to help us get this going.
